CHDS Media Hub — Multimodal Pedagogy at Harvard

In January 2016, Jake took on his first project at the Center for Health Decision Science (CHDS) at Harvard University: building and directing a new media hub — Harvard School of Public Health's only Center-facing multimodal pedagogy experimentation lab. Over his tenure, the Media Hub produced multiple semester-long courses, ran faculty professional-development residencies, and created hundreds of media products for field-leading faculty.
The role combined evidence from the learning sciences with artistic and backward-design principles to develop new multimedia pedagogies — experience that later became the basis for a "modular media incubator" methodology: helping organizations build their own low-cost, sustainable media production capacity rather than depending on outside producers for every project.
NEEDS YOUR INPUT: the old site called this a current role as of 2021-22 — confirm whether it still is. Also useful: a specific course or module to feature as a mini case study, and any before/after teaching outcomes if you have them.
